Stock Gifts

By making a gift of appreciated stock, you receive credit for the full market value of the gift, and you avoid capital-gains tax. In order to assure that we received and properly acknowledge your stock gift, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Contact Your Broker

Ask your stockbroker or brokerage firm to make a direct electronic transfer of the stock certificates to Alachua Conservation Trust’s account. Contact us for account information by phone at (352) 373-1078.

Give your broker our taxpayer identification number: 59-2919630

Step 2: Contact Alachua Conservation Trust

In order to properly acknowledge your gift please notify us as soon as your transfer instructions have been given to your broker. This is important because your broker will not necessarily notify us and our broker often does not know the originating source of the donation.

When you contact us by email or phone at (352) 373-1078, please provide us with the name of the security or securities being transferred, the number of shares to be donated, and the name and phone number of your broker.

Donor-Advised Funds

A donor-advised fund allows you to recommend a grant of funds to a non-profit charitable organization such as ACT, while continuing to grow the fund tax-free over time. This allows you to increase your impact for future giving. When you make a grant through a donor-advised fund, your designated sponsor will verify the non-profit and work with the organization directly to make the donation. You also will receive one donation receipt from your designated sponsor for all grants made through the donor-advised fund rather than individual donation receipts from each charity.

To make a grant to ACT from a donor-advised fund your sponsor may request the following information:

Name of Charity: Alachua Conservation Trust, Inc.
Federal tax identification number or FEIN: 59-2919630
Mailing Address: 7204 SE County Road 234, Gainesville, FL 32601
Phone Number: (352) 373-1078

You can also designate Alachua Conservation Trust as a beneficiary of all or part of the value of a donor-advised fund. Establishing one or more beneficiaries will ensure that the remaining funds are distributed according to your wishes after your passing.

Volunteer With Us

We can always use a hand with our various projects in the fall, winter, and spring months.* We regularly need people to table events (e.g. arts festivals, farmer's markets) and educate the public about ACT's mission, remove exotic vegetation and plant native species, and maintain ACT’s trails and preserves.

If you are interested in volunteering your time and talents, or have a large group interested in doing a project with us, please click the button below to fill out our interested volunteer form and you will be added to our email list for notification of upcoming volunteer activities once they are scheduled.

Upcoming volunteer events are also listed on our Event’s Page here.

*Volunteer events and activities typically take place from September-May. During the summer months (June-August), we do not host volunteer events or activities.

Business Sponsorships & Matching

From supporting our annual Conservation Stewards Awards to providing the funding and manpower to plant longleaf pine, we are grateful and reliant on support from local businesses and companies throughout North Central Florida.

There are several ways that you and your workplace and/or business can support ACT’s conservation efforts, including as an event sponsor and through company matching programs:

Annual Conservation Stewards Awards Sponsorships

Each year, this event honors individuals in our community who are influential in a wide variety of ways – the arts, historic preservation, and particularly, in protecting our wildlife and natural resources. The Conservation Stewards Awards is one of the largest gatherings of community leaders and supporters of wild Florida in the region. The event features a cocktail hour, dinner, an awards ceremony and live music. With over 500 guests and extensive news media coverage, you don’t want to miss Florida’s biggest conservation event of the year!

Business Sponsorship Levels

  • Live Oak: $10,000

  • Longleaf Pine: $5,000

  • Cypress: $2,500

  • Magnolia: $1,000

  • Hickory: $500

  • Tupelo: $300

  • Wiregrass: $150

Contributions to ACT are tax-deductible, and in-kind donations are graciously accepted as well. Click here to view sponsor level benefits and additional info. We are committed to maximizing the exposure of your contribution and partnership.

If you would like to be added to the CSA business sponsor packet mailing list, please send us your preferred business mailing address here. Packets are typically sent out in December and January.

Company Matching Programs

Many business and corporations will match charitable contributions made by their employees, board members, or retirees. This could mean it is possible to double or even triple your contribution to Alachua Conservation Trust. Matching gifts provide a way for you to maximize the impact of your support of ACT.

Please ask your human resources office if they match contributions and send in their matching gift form with your pledge. If your company has a phone or web match program, please indicate that you have made these arrangements when you send in your gift.

ACT is thankful to the following company match sponsors:

If your business is interested in learning more about how you can become an event sponsor or submit ACT to your company’s matching program, please contact our office directly my email or phone at (352) 373-1078.
